Plan of the chapter
A - Essential data · (Introduction on the basis)
Open questions
What is Man ? Which are the processes which are at the origin of its behaviors, its needs, its sufferings, its conscience and its existence ?
Can one set up social or educational situations, define ethical values, work out political or economic institutions which are relevant, durable and humanistic without knowing what really human nature is ?
General orientation
This research is motivated by the assumption that the comprehension of human behavior and psyche is a fundamental necessity, whatever the fields of application : educational actions, methods of teaching, psychological analyses, medical field, social and political institutions, ethical reflection or societal choice.
The objective of this research is to propose a new explanatory and predictive framework of the functional dynamics of human organism, in its physiological, emotional, cognitive and behavioral dimensions. This theoretical framework is elaborated starting from a synthesis of the last current scientific knowledge.
The ambition is to design a model which is the most objective and universal possible, valid for all human being, whatever their age, their gender or their culture.
The method of research and reflection employed is global, systemic and pragmatic ; it is a critical synthesis of intercultural and interdisciplinary data.
B - Organisation of the work · (Introduction on the form)
This research task (downloadable) is presented in three levels of writing, of gradual complexity :
– A summary, the main points on 10 pages in A4 format. Chapters : preambles + objective + synoptic summary + author.
(available in French, English, German and Spanish)
– A general introduction, on 100 A4 pages. Chapters : themes + epistemology + emergence + needs + cognition + behaviors + prospects.
(only available in French and partly in English)
– An in-depth study, on 1.000 A4 pages, constituted of many detailed articles (cf. hyperlinks "in-depth analysis ").
(only available in French)
In these detailed articles, logical argumentation, scientific data and references are included with the conclusions, so that the reader can judge the validity and the scientific rigour of the research work.
Lastly, a glossary-index, "conceptual crossroads" of this study, connect as well the various assumptions as their implications.
(only available in French)
Remarks
Currently, the texts of the various chapters are in course of writing. The final version will be available in a few months.
The summary is almost finished (and translated from French into English, German and Spanish), the general introduction is written but will continue to evolve (and will be translated into English), and some detailed articles are available (representative examples : olfaction, ethics, methodology, ...).
The site available on Internet network is a test version, intended to evaluate the computers problems and to test solutions. At a later date, it is planned a free version (containing the main points of the psychobiological model) and a commercial version, more complete (in book and CD-ROM, containing videos, photographs, animated diagrams, ...).
C - Introduction to psychobiology
Psychobiology (or biological psychology) is a new field of research, having for object the physiological, cognitive and behavioral study of the alive beings.
This discipline, founded on biology and neuroscience, takes account at the same time of the biological constitution of human being but also of its psychological characteristics : affectivity, intellect, imaginary, beliefs, symbolisation, ...
Human psychobiology tries to understand psyche, needs and behaviors of Man, mainly starting from biology and neurobiology. Human psychobiology is a synthesis between neuroscience, ethology (study of animal behavior), ethnology (study of cultures and societies) and psychology.
D - Forewords
The model of human psyche and behaviors described in this work results from personal research, of which I am the author.
Because of the complexity of the tackled subject, this talk does not claim to bring final answers, but propose, starting from scientific knowledge, new tracks of reflection.
Many assumptions presented in this study differ from usual psychological or cultural models, or can be in contradiction with social or moral standards of certain societies.
The objective is not to shock or to please, to be virtuous or immoral, to validate or refute such or such scientific or cultural model, because it disturbs or on the contrary because it is in fashion.
The objective is, initially, to know what really the human being is, in order to be able to make, in a second time, and in all knowledge of cause, ethical, educational and societal choices.
It is up to the reader to made his own objective judgement, i.e., by paraphrasing Pierre Bourdieu to try to discover all that the history and the logic of the social, scientific and cultural values force to think, at a given moment, with the illusion of freedom.
